Ward Automation Engineers Producing PPE for Frontline Healthcare Workers

We are proud of our team who are producing 3D printed face shields and surgical mask ear guards, to donate to hospitals and nursing homes to aid in the fight against COVID 19.

The headbands are produced on 3D printers at the Ward Automation Sligo facility. A transparent plastic visor, cut from acetate, is added to the front, creating a protective face shielding barrier which is then sterilised. The shield protects the eyes, nose and the mouth, which are known to be the main areas which the virus can enter a person.

The shield design is the 3D Verkstan Iso 838. Any individual or company with 3D printing capabilities can download the file here and help supply frontline healthcare workers with PPE equipment.

The 3D printed ear guards help take the pressure off health care workers’ ears from wearing surgical masks all day. The ear guard file can be downloaded here.
