Surf Intervarsities sponsored by Ward Automation shortlisted for ‘Event of the year 2020’

Congratulations to GMIT, hosts of the 2020 Surf Intervarsity’s event, which was shortlisted by Student Sport Ireland for ‘Event of the year 2020’. Ward Automation were proud to be a main sponsor of the event which also incorporated the 20×20 Women in Sport campaign entitled ‘If she can’t see it, she can’t be it’.

The team at GMIT implemented a successful college intervarsity weekend on March 6th – 8th 2020 that saw 105 students compete and another 100 spectators involved.

GMIT Mayo Sports Officer, Nigel Jennings said “I would like to thank the committee who have been exemplary in their execution of the huge task they undertook, in very challenging circumstances. They delivered an event that reflects so well on the campus and shows what can be done with a crew of committed, focused and passionate people, watching this event evolve over the last few months and the incredible execution, was a pleasure and working alongside these students a privilege.”
