Senior Machine Build & Development Technician

The Role

Machine build and development technician is a highly technical role that is crucial to the success of producing the company’s high quality automation equipment for use in the Medical Device and Pharma industries.

You will have the opportunity of working with leading edge automation technologies such as robotics, vision systems, drives, controls systems etc. It’s a hands on role that involves the  assembly  of large automated machines to a high standard. In addition to the “hands on” build phase of the project,  the role also requires a high level of technical ability and logical thinking to run the equipment during the post power-up phase, seek out issues, find the root causes of those issues and together with the project team figure out a way to resolve any mechanical or functional issues found.

Responsibilities

  • Works on own initiative in a bespoke projects environment is essential.
  • Works as part of a team to build a machine (assembly of tooling, pneumatic and electrical hardware)
  • Works closely with other disciplines (e.g. Controls engineers and designers) to get the machine running to an acceptable level that aligns with customer’s expectations.
  • Applies technical knowhow to the role in terms of being able to fault find machine issues and propose / act on solutions.

 

Key Skills

  • Technical background – Strong all round technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and machinery and proven track record of resolving issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • A high degree of craft skill with the ability to setup machines to fine tolerances to produce the desired results

 

Work Location

On-site, F91 W1HE.   Very occasional travel to customer’s sites for machine installation activity.

 

Experience/Qualifications

Qualified Electrician or Fitter or Level 7 in a relevant engineering discipline (is preferred but not essential for the right candidate)

Three years’ experience in a similar role which may include roles such as manufacturing engineer / technician where that work involved resolving machine related issues.
