The award comes after the company was recently announced as one of two companies to reach the final of the Pharma Industry Awards for the Engineering Project of the Year.

The Energia family business awards which were presented by Matt Cooper of Today FM celebrated the best of indigenous Irish businesses. This years theme was ‘Resilience through generations’, which recognised the most adaptable family businesses across the country and those who are continuing to help keep the wider SME sector alive.

Managing Director John Ward started the family business in 1995 with his wife Celine. “We are honoured to receive the Energia bronze award for the Manufacturing & Engineering Family Business of the Year. I am proud of our team who continue to push the boundaries of innovative automation and deliver the highest quality machines for our customers.”

Ward Automation were also shortlisted in the category Innovative Family Business of the Year.

Two Ward Automation Sligo staff members living in Bundoran have been giving their time to coach the junior teams.

David Smyth, well known in the local GAA community is head coach of the u15 team while Kenny Ward is on the coaching team for the u5’s and u9’s. Both lads along with the rest of the Bundoran coaches completed courses to ensure they were up to speed with the current youth coaching requirements.

While Kenny discussed the challenges of keeping the young under 5 players focused throughout the training sessions, David praised the dedication of his under 15 team over the year.

Four members of the u15 Bundoran GAA team progressed to the Donegal county development squad, where they travelled to Convoy to train alongside promising young footballers from other areas of Donegal. David’s son Lee Smyth along with Ryan McGloin successfully continued to train with the high performing development squad for the majority of the season.

Ward Automation commend all the coaches for their efforts and wish the Bundoran teams the best of luck in their future endeavours.

Integrated with Cognex VisionPro, the full circumference and the top of the vial crimp caps are inspected using five high resolution, frame-grabbing cameras, linked to a high end PC based vision system. This allows the system to inspect the crimp and clearly read and verify the printed lot information no matter what orientation the vials are moving through the system.
